The black is very nice, but the gray is even less tactical-looking, for the office environment.
These are very functional writers. They feel solid and comfortable in the hand, and write easily and reliably with the ubiquitous, long lasting Fisher "space pen" type cartridge. The manufacture quality is extremely high. It is a pleasure to have and use these pens -- just as pens.
For its as a tactical implement, it should fit comfortably in the hand with a sure grip, as it does. It's solid, has some weight to it, and is very strongly made, so you can doubtlessly rely on it.
The pocket clip lets you position it for easy, rapid access, while the top of the pen does not stick up too high out of your pocket where it might easily fall out. The most important thing about a tactical pen is that it does not look like a weapon that is "also a pen." It does not look intimidating in use or clipped on your pocket. That's important in the office, and even more so on the street.
